Tim Swift - Founder/Inventor

I grew up in the Southern California area.  During my youth by the beach I was involved with surfing and skateboarding in the 70's and 80's.  When I was 12 years old my mom (who loved skiing) moved us to Salt Lake City, Utah.  I badly missed the ocean, but was able to visit during my summer vacations and surf.  One day driving down the road in Salt Lake I saw an early snowboard in the window of a shop, a Burton backyard board.  It was made out of wood with some rubber bindings on it.  I had to have it!  For the next few years I was hiking up the mountains to snowboard backcountry because they didn't allow them on the lifts yet.  I eventually was able to try wake boarding to round out the board riding sports.

Eventually I was able to move back to the ocean in San Clemente and start a practice as a chiropractor in town.  I have spent the last 20 years surfing and raising my family in our beautiful town.  It is a whole new experience raising kids and sharing my love for board sports with them.  We love to surf, skate, snowboard, wakeboard and wake skate.  When my kids were having fun with these sports I remembered something fun we used to do with skateboards, attaching the board to our feet to ride it like you would a snowboard or wakeboard.  I created the first Skatstrap for my kids and thought it would be something that everyone could enjoy.  I hope you have as much fun with it as we have!

Skatestrap is made in the USA

Although some of the pricing might be cheaper to buy overseas and we do live in a global economy, we build Skatestrap locally in Southern California.  Buying a Skatestrap is supporting local Southern California businesses.  The only thing that we purchase abroad is the canvas packaging.
